Susie Clinkard married briefly in 1977 to become Adams, but this ended soon after and she reverted to the old Susie Clinkard. A subsequent relationship resulted in the birth of her daughter Holly in 1984, but although she changed Susie Clinkard by deed poll to Susie Dixon, (the father's surname), she refused to marry again. The relationship tailed off over the years as Holly gained three more half-sisters by three different women...eventually her own mother, Susie, giving birth to Jonathan in 1992 (with the aid of a very good friend!)

Susie Clinkard has lived with her children, now 24 and 16 in Long Melford since 1987, the large house giving shelter to various lodgers/friends/family over the years. Her mother died in 1992 after a stroke, when Jonny was only 10 months old. Swiss Nan-nan died in 2000 aged 96 after moving into the house in Melford, and Bryce died in 2007 there after a long battle with motor neurone disease, aged 86. Brother Tony Clinkard was killed at the age of 47 in a high speed crash at Cadwell while driving a replica Cobra against a relative newcomer, who lost control of his car and took them both out...both men died.
